8-Hour Performance-Based Defensive Pistol Course
 

Defensive Gunfighter Program – Pistol Level 1 is a structured, standards-driven live-fire course designed for intermediate shooters looking to move beyond casual range practice.

This is not a beginner class.

 

Students must already demonstrate safe holster presentation, reload competency, and disciplined weapon handling. All participants complete an entry evaluation before continuing into the training block.

About the Instructor

Krauss Ren is a U.S. Army veteran and law enforcement professional with over a decade of experience in firearms and defensive training. A CA POST-certified instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer, he has trained both professionals and civilians with a strong emphasis on safety, accountability, and measurable standards.

 

His philosophy is simple:

Safety is non-negotiable.

Standards drive improvement.

Skill is earned through discipline.

This course focuses on developing accountable, controlled defensive handgun skills through structured progression and measurable standards.

Training includes:

  • Accuracy under command

  • Faster sight picture acquisition

  • Positional shooting concepts

  • Environmental awareness

  • Controlled movement integration

 

The day concludes with a qualification assessment to determine certification eligibility.

  • Experienced civilian shooters

  • CCW holders seeking structured defensive training

  • Armed professionals

  • Students preparing for advanced coursework

 

​If you are not yet comfortable drawing from a holster safely, a foundational handgun course is recommended before enrollment.

Required Equipment:

  • Reliable semi-automatic handgun

  • Strong-side, belt-mounted holster suitable for structured live-fire training

  • Minimum two magazines

  • 300+ rounds of factory ammunition

  • Eye and ear protection

 

Holsters must fully cover the trigger guard and allow safe, controlled reholstering.

Firearm Rental & Ammunition Policy:

Firearm rental is free of charge for students who do not have their own equipment.

 

Please note that ammunition is not included and must be purchased separately.


Ammunition is available on-site for 9mm $15 per box (50 rounds).

For safety and range management reasons, cross-draw, shoulder holsters,

appendix-style setups, and certain retention designs are not permitted in this course.
